Does anyone speak Swahili, Somali, Or have knowledge of African Languages?
I'm trying to pick a name for an South African Boerboel dog. I want it to be name of African descent since that is where it originated. But I can't always trust the English to African/Swahili/ETC.. translators online. I speak Spanish too and I know how much the spanish to English online translators really suck sometimes.
Anyways the dog is a boy and I am interested in the following names (please don't be offended by the possible choices, some of them are for humor and reference the giant size of this Mastiff breed)
Mighty
Killer
Earthquake
Hungry
Flex (just like flexing a muscle)
Ruler
Protector
Ninja
Heavy
Thunder
Boom (or a loud noise like Bang, Pow, Bam!)
Raw (uncooked meat, or human flesh lol)
Deisel
Bear
Attack
Hippopotamus (most aggressive animal in Africa I believe)
my question is "Can you translate those names"
Filed under: All about the Swahili language
Hodari is nice, it means strong in Kiswahili. Liban in Somali means blessed.
Nduli means Killer in swahili…Dubu is bear in Swahili…Mzito means heavy, well -zito is the suffix you would add but mzito is singular so that would be ok for your dog. Hujuuma means attack in Swahili. There isnt a word for deisel, that would mean gasoline and petroli is how you would say that in Swahili.
I do not speak salami or hippopotamus.
i am sure someone does but i do not. sorry i am trying to get to level 3
no….? i don’t know what your asking
No, sorry
For doggy style
Call him KamajamalaminiShakiraNananana
Jumbo means hi
papadi
kulak
what does "mastiff" mean? you mean massive?
Don’t forget that some African countries use French. Why not go to a good sized library and look for African languages?
I speak somali but what does that have to do with South Africa? Shouldn’t you be researching Afrikaans?
i speak a bit of Wullaf. I’m sure I didn’t spell that right:(. It’s one of the major languages in Senegal. I think it’s really spoken in Dakar but I don’t remember. I had a LOT of African friends.
So, what exactly is your question here?
how about Hodari, that means "strong in Swahili"
